Job Opportunity: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Long Term Care (Nights)
Location: Claremont, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide continuous observation of residents, monitoring mental and physical well-being, and report significant changes to supervisors and physicians.
- Receive and transcribe physician orders accurately; administer medications and treatments as ordered.
- Maintain pharmaceutical supplies for the unit.
- Supervise Licensed Nursing Assistants (LNAs) according to New Hampshire Board of Nursing regulations.
- Assign and oversee nursing staff resident care consistent with their abilities and scope of practice.
- Assist direct-care staff with nursing care as needed.
- Accompany physicians on resident rounds to address medical needs and facilitate communication during reviews.
- Administer oxygen therapy and gastrostomy/jejunostomy feedings per facility policies.
- Perform wound care, including knowledge of wound vacs.
- Manage daily unit duties such as checking therapy appointments, activity boards, ambulation lists, weights, blood pressures, and nutritional documentation.
- Monitor LNA documentation and infection control practices; ensure unit cleanliness and safety.
- Admit, discharge, and transfer residents with proper documentation.
- Complete 24-hour reports, review new orders, and maintain communication with nursing leadership regarding resident and staff issues.
- Communicate with residents’ families to resolve concerns and obtain necessary consents.
- Manage assigned unit(s) during shifts under direction of Nursing Supervisor or Director of Nursing Services.
- Follow state and federal regulations for controlled medication storage, usage, and documentation.
- Assist with orientation and ongoing education of nursing staff; evaluate staff performance and recommend disciplinary actions as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid LPN / LVN license in New Hampshire
- Minimum 3 years of Long Term Care experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- IV therapy skills; IV certified or willing to obtain certification during onboarding

- Dress code: Scrubs (matching top and bottoms).
- Overtime and callback pay policies apply (details not included here).
- Orientation hours: 0 hours.
- Cancellation policy: Up to 3 shifts may be canceled per 13-week contract.
- Flu vaccine: Annual seasonal flu vaccine required or declination with mask-wearing during flu season.
- Timecard process: Clock in/out at the facility; no paper timecards signed by managers.
