Position Details

• Specialty: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

• Contract Length: 26 weeks
• Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience
• Scheduling Note: Blocked schedules cannot be accommodated

Required Certifications & Licenses

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association only
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – American Heart Association only
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – American Heart Association only
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• Permanent RN License: Valid permanent license required (temporary licenses not accepted)
• License/Certificate Verification: Primary source verification required within 30 days of start and updated upon expiration

Required Health & Immunization Credentials

• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Positive titers within last 15 years or approved booster protocol
• Varicella: Positive titers within last 15 years or approved booster protocol
• Hepatitis B: Proof of full series, partial series with signed declination, or positive titers within 15 years
• Tdap: Proof of vaccination within past 10 years (declinations not accepted)
• 2-Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Negative test within last 6 months; annual requirement
• Fit Test: Completed within 1 year of start (specific approved respirators listed)
• Physical/Health Statement: Pre-employment physical exam within 1 year stating ability to work without restrictions
• Influenza Vaccine: Proof of vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (preferred, not required)
• Positive PPD: If applicable, negative chest x-ray within 5 years and current TB questionnaire

Background & Employment Verification

• Criminal Background Check: National and county searches within last 7 years, including SSN trace and NSO
• Ohio Fingerprints: Required for all Ohio residents (BCI&I check and FCRA-compliant national criminal background check)
• Social Security Trace: If not included in background check, must be completed within 1 year of start
• NSO (National Sex Offender) Check: If not included in background check, must be completed within 30 days of start
• OIG Search: Must be completed within 6 months prior to start
• SAM/EPLS/GSA/OFAC Checks: Must be completed within 6 months prior to start
• Employment Verification: Verification of employment within last 5 years through third-party verification (attestations not allowed)
• Education Verification: Highest level of education verified; international education requires equivalency documentation

Testing & Competency Requirements

• Drug Screen: 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted)
• Competency Exam: Must score at least 80%, completed within 1 year prior to start
• Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission-NPSG, OSHA topics; 80% passing score required, completed within 1 year prior to start
• Skills Checklist: Clinical skill-specific checklist completed within 1 year prior to start (initial hire only)
• UHS Module Completion Certificate: Safety and compliance training modules must be completed prior to clearance

• Resume & Submission Packet: Includes education, work history, 2 professional references within last 2 years, and completed job application
• Photo ID: Non-expired driver's license or state ID required
• Badge Photo: Headshot with plain background, shoulders up, JPEG format
