Registered Nurse (RN) Oncology - Step Down/Oncology

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Rotating shifts: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (day/night rotation)
  • Patient population includes surgical oncology and some step-down patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4-1:5 during the day, 1:6 at night
  • Must have experience with surgical patients and tracheostomies

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within the last year
  • Experience with surgical patients
  • Experience with tracheostomies
  • Oncology nursing experience
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Completed I-9 or attestation of eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Ohio fingerprint background checks and FBI checks depending on length of residency in Ohio
  • Criminal background check within 6 months including social security trace, county searches, national sex offender registry
  • OIG exclusion check within 6 months prior to start
  • SAM/EPLS/GSA/OFAC screening within 6 months prior to start
  • Drug screen within 60 days prior to start (10-panel, lab report required; instant screens not accepted)
  • Education verification through third party (international equivalency required if applicable)
  • Employment verification for last 5 years through third party
  • Skills checklist completed within 1 year prior to start (clinical skills specific)
  • Competency exam for relevant department with minimum 80% score within 1 year prior to start
  • Core competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics) with minimum 80% score within 1 year prior to start
  • Completion of required safety and compliance training modules prior to clearance; renewal annually
  • Badge photo (headshot, plain background) required

  • Two professional references from within last 2 years
  • Completed job application form
  • Employment history form confirming previous employment at the facility system (if applicable)
  • Non-expired photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)

  • Ratios and patient acuity may vary; flexibility with rotating shifts is required
  • This role involves care for complex oncology surgical patients including those with tracheostomies and step-down needs
