Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Maine
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
2 or more completed 13-week travel assignments
BLS
ACLS
NIHSS
Experience with Stroke patients and performing Q2H neuro checks
Experience with high-flow O2 administration
Experience with chest tubes
Experience with Wound Vacs and VAC dressing changes
Experience with Bipap
Experience with general drain and ostomy care
Experience with trached patients on ventilators
Experience administering 100% FiO2 via suction support and silencing alarms
Experience with trach care and suctioning
Experience with temporary pacemakers

Unit Details

Intermediate Care Unit has 12 beds
Patient mix includes trauma, neuro, medical/surgical, and cardiac patients
RN ratio: 1:3-4 on days and nights
Float scope includes ED, ICU, and CCU when there is an intermediate assignment in those departments

Support on the Unit

CNA support
Charge nurse may take patients if needed
Phlebotomy support
Resource nurse 24/7, ICU trained
RT 24/7
Hospitalist 24/7
PT/OT Monday through Friday
IV/VAT team available for ultrasound-guided IVs and PICC/Midline placement; RN starts own PIVs

Scheduling

Every other weekend rotation
May be placed on low census call back
Time off requests go through manager
Holiday expectations vary based on unit needs
