Work Environment & Department Details

• Department: IR / Vascular Tech
• Procedure Suites/Labs: 7 total (4 Cath Lab/EP & 3 IR/Vascular)
• Average Cases per Day: 20+ across all rooms
• Common Procedures:

  • IR: Port placements, liver biopsy, IVC placements, G-tube placements, PICC & Central line placements, Neuro procedures (coiling, thrombectomy, embolizations) with anesthesia support
  • Vascular: Femoral-popliteal bypass, AAA repair, carotid procedures, EVAR, angiograms, and more

Job Duties

• Prepare procedure suites and ensure radiation safety setup
• Calibrate and troubleshoot fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring equipment
• Pull supplies, set up sterile tables
• Scrub in and assist physicians with procedures including device exchange, guidewire manipulation, catheter placement, balloon and stent deployment
• Manage radiation dose and imaging angles
• Clean, restock, and room turnover
• Sheath removals

• EMR Systems: Merge, Cerner

Staffing & Team

• Cath Lab: 1 RN, 3 Techs
• EP: 3-4 person team (varies)
• IR: 1 RN, 2 Techs, anesthesia support for neuro cases
• STEMI Call Team: 4 persons (1 RN, 3 Techs)
• Management: 2 team leads handle scheduling and staffing

Shifts & Scheduling

• Typical Schedule: 4 ten-hour days per week (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM) plus call
• Alternative Schedule: 5 eight-hour days (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM) considered
• Rotating day off
• Call rotation includes weeknights, weekends, and holidays
• Call frequency: approximately once every 3 weekdays and once every 3 weekends (Friday through Monday)
• Call response time: 30 minutes
• First week orientation: No call
• Second week: On call with a buddy
• Subsequent weeks: On call independently

Additional Information

• Floating: Hybrid for vascular cases
• Scrubs provided; own scrub caps allowed
• Orientation: 2-3 full days of training/shadowing with buddy call
• Clinicians must clock in/out at the facility
• Previous employment with the facility requires a minimum 6-month gap before reapplying
