Virtual Monitor Tech - Phoenix, AZ

Job Overview

Seeking a Virtual Monitor Technician to perform remote cardiac rhythm surveillance in a virtual hospital setting. The role involves monitoring multiple patients’ cardio-pulmonary rhythms via a central monitoring station and recognizing/reporting dangerous rhythm changes and arrhythmias according to established protocols.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Work Environment

  • Centralized monitoring unit
  • Monitor up to 45-60 patients simultaneously using advanced IT technology
  • Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse
  • Business casual dress code
  • No cell phones allowed; work phone provided
  • No timesheets signed by the hospital

Shifts & Scheduling

  • 12-hour shifts: 0700 - 1930 and 1900 - 0730
  • No set schedules
  • Must work 4 weekend shifts per schedule (weekends defined as Friday/Saturday for night shift, Saturday/Sunday for day shift)
  • Holiday work required
  • Night shift positions require availability for 2-3 day shifts for orientation

Orientation & Training

  • Unit/department-specific orientation required
  • Mandatory in-person orientation with equipment vendor (GE) for initial groups
  • Opportunity to cross-train to Virtual Patient Companion or Clinical Connection Specialist roles

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Technician, including experience within the last year
  • BLS Certification

Job Duties

  • Perform remote surveillance of cardio-pulmonary rhythms for multiple locations
  • Recognize, record, and report dangerous rhythm changes and arrhythmias
  • Follow established protocols and communication channels for routine and emergency situations
  • Notify local RN staff of cardiac rhythm changes as per policy
  • Strive to improve patient outcomes and department metrics

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
