ER - RN

Location

• Ringgold, Georgia

Contract

• 13 weeks
• 36 hours per week
• 12-hour evening/night shifts

Unit / Setting

• ER/ED
• 24 beds, including 4 behavioral health rooms and 2 critical care rooms
• Separate triage area
• 9-chair vertical flow fast track area
• Separate psych/seclusion rooms
• In-house security 24/7
• RT is in the ER 24/7
• No tele/monitor techs in the ER
• X-ray/CT available in the ER
• No trauma designation
• STEMI and stroke receiving facility; these patients are transferred out for intervention

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• NIHSS
• Ability to function in a fast-paced department with fewer resources than large teaching or trauma facilities
• Must be adept with EPIC
• Compact license required for floating between campuses in Tennessee

Preferred

• Experience in smaller, fast-paced facilities

Responsibilities / Workflow

• Travelers are expected to do triage
• RN draws labs
• RN may need to troubleshoot RT equipment
• Charge nurse may occasionally take patients, mainly behavioral health patients
• PCTs transport patients and can perform phlebotomy
• RT performs ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKGs
• Travelers may float between three campuses, infrequently if needed

Patient Population

• All age groups
• Common presentations include chest pain, abdominal pain, shortness of breath, and uncontrolled diabetes
• Occasional precipitous delivery due to no OB services
• High-acuity patient population

Scheduling / Other

• Weekends may be required
• Holidays expected unless negotiated in the contract
• No call or standby requirement
• Navy blue scrubs
• Plain or branded sweatshirts allowed; no hoodies
• Orientation includes two 8-hour hospital orientation shifts and two 12-hour clinical in-unit orientation shifts with a preceptor
