Overview

• Rural hospital in southwest Kansas has an immediate need for an ICU RN.
• Unit: ICU
• Beds: 10-bed General ICU
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2

Schedule

• 12-hour night shift
• 36-hour guarantee
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling
• Weekend requirement: minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
• Holiday requirement: yes
• Call or standby requirement: determined by NM

Required Qualifications

• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• NIHSS
• CRRT
• RN license
• Must be able to work in a rural setting and use telehealth for critical care/pulm
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Must be able to read strips and escalate

Unit Details

• Common titratable/set-rate drips: vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, analgesics, metabolic, specialized
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• Nurse aides are available depending on volume
• Hospitalist in house
• RT in ICU 24/7
• RT equipment: Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, vents
• No tele/monitor techs on the unit

Floating

• Floating is determined by NM
• If there is an extreme need, may float within Zone 4
• First to float

Orientation

• Clinicians must be in state for the week of orientation, even if first-day modules are remote
• Date and location assigned during the week of orientation
