Contract
- 13 weeks
- 12-hour nights
- 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Active IL license or confirmation that application process has been initiated
- BLS (AHA)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Must provide the last four digits of SSN
- Must provide middle initial
- Must provide requested time off
- Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels
Preferred Qualifications
- Level 3/4 ICU experience
- Micro preemie care experience
Unit Details
- Level 3 NICU
- 60 total private rooms, with capability to expand to 65 patients with 5 twin rooms
- 40 designated NICU rooms and 20 Intermediate beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: NICU 1:1-3; NIC 1:3-4
- Common patient types include 22 weeks and up, abdominal defects, pre-cardiac repair, PPHN, CDH, and other genetic defect
Clinical Responsibilities
- Titrate drips per orders
- Common drips include Fentanyl, Morphine, and Precedex
- Use of conventional vents, oscillator ventilator, JET ventilator, CPAP, Nasal IMV, Heated High Flow, and Tracheostomy support
- All patients are monitored, but the unit does not do Tele
Schedule and Staffing
- Self-scheduling with block scheduling allowed
- Every other weekend required for dayshift; nightshift weekend needs depend on facility needs
- Holiday coverage as needed
- No current call requirement
- Charge RN in NICU and NIC only takes patient assignments if staffing gaps
- PCTs are used
- Neonatologist in house 24/7, with 2-3 APNs 24/7 and Resident/Fellow coverage
- Travelers are first to float
- Float scope includes PICU, PIC, Peds, Nursery, sitter, BHM, and helping in adult world
Orientation
- 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation
Dress Code
- No fake nails, nail polish, jewelry, or watches
