DMCC - Acute Rehab Unit RN

Overview

• 13-week contract in Peoria, Illinois
• Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
• 12-hour day shifts: 7:00a–7:30p
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation every other holiday
• No call or standby requirement

Required Qualifications

• RN license: active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS
• Strong Neuro skills
• Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels
• Submission requires the last four digits of SSN, middle initial, and requested time off

Unit Details

• Acute Rehab Unit
• 29 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 5:1 days, 6:1 nights
• Common patient types include Neuro, Neurosurgery, Amputations, multi-trauma, Cardiac, and complex medical patients with trachs but no vents
• Tele is available on the unit, but RN does not read strips; tele packs are used
• RN is required to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehab
• No charge nurses; house supervisors are present
• Nurse aides are on the unit with a 1:9/10 ratio
• PT/OT/ST services are on the unit
• Respiratory support includes CPAP/BiPAP only at night for sleep apnea, nasal cannula, and high-flow nasal cannula without heated high flow

Floating

• May float to LTAC and med-surg
• Will not float to HAU unless trained

Orientation

• 2 days of class orientation
• 2–3 days/nights with a preceptor
• Includes learning QRP and specific rehab documentation

Additional Notes

• Local rate adjustment applies to clinicians with permanent addresses within 50 miles
• Guaranteed hours do not apply during the 12-hour orientation
• Scrubs may be any color; no t-shirts unless approved
