Labor and Delivery Nurse

Overview

• Travel contract in Sacramento, California
• 14-week contract
• 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
• Unit: FBC - OB / L&D / PP (LDRP)
• High-risk unit with couplet care
• Must be willing to do it all from start to finish
• Must circulate C-sections and be comfortable in all aspects of LDRP
• May float to other Sacramento facilities
• First to float

Required Qualifications

• Active California RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• NRP
• AWHONN-Advanced
• 2 years of experience
• Must be able to float to MB
• Must be able to circulate C-sections
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips on moms in PACU only

Preferred Qualifications

• STABLE

Unit Details

• 10 L&D beds
• 2 OR suites for C-sections
• 3 triage beds
• 12 postpartum beds
• 140-165 births monthly
• Ratios: 1:3-4 couplets, L&D 1:1 to 1:2, antepartum 1:1-3
• Common diagnoses include preterm labor, bleeding, inductions, cesarean sections, and hypertension
• Pitocin used as a titratable drip
• OB surgical techs on the unit
• OB hospitalist in house 24/7
• Neonatologist on call 24/7 and rounds daily
• Anesthesia in house 24/7
• No vents
• GE Corometric monitors with Fetalink surveillance

Scheduling and Logistics

• Report is at the bedside
• OT and extra shifts are available
• Every other weekend
• Rotates holidays with staff
• If placed on call, response time is 30 minutes
• Scrubs provided

Additional Notes

• Baby Catcher is also known as the NRP role and is an assignment for the entire shift
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by a CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
• Need 2 supervisor references at submittal, with 1 within 12 months and 1 within 3 years worked
• Copy of driver’s license needed at time of submittal to validate legal name
• Holiday time off will be considered but not guaranteed
