Registered Nurse — PCU

Location

Omaha, Nebraska

Contract Length

13 weeks

Schedule

12-hour shifts
Day shift
Every other weekend

Unit Details

PCU
55 beds
Adult patients; pediatric patients are rare and are age 15 or older when present
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 on days and nights
May float to medical-surgical areas based on unit need

Required Qualifications

ACLS
BLS
Driver’s license required at submittal
Must be able to pass an open-book orientation exam with a score of 90% or higher
Must be outside the 50-mile radius
Cannot be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and Dignity

Clinical Focus

Telemetry
Common diagnoses include CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID, subdural hematoma, and weakness
Common medications/drips include PCA pumps, Cardizem, and insulin

Work Environment

Nursing assistant support available
Charge nurse present
Additional support includes educator, care managers, social workers, dieticians, PT, and OT
Staffing is a current challenge
Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
