Job Overview

• Position: Surgical Tech (Operating Room Technician)
• Location: Omaha, Nebraska
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day and Evening shifts available (6:30 AM - 3:00 PM or 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM)
• Hours: 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week
• Call Requirements:

  • Weekly: 1 call shift of 4 hours after a regular shift
  • Weekend call approximately every 5 weeks (Friday evening to Sunday evening)
  • Two call teams alternate every 12 hours between first and second call
• No floating outside of the OR
• Scrubs: Green scrubs provided by the hospital

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA) required
• Must have a valid driver’s license at time of application (used to verify candidate is within 50-mile radius)
• Must have at least 3 years of experience in all key surgical areas including Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Gynecology, Eyes, ENT, and Robotics
• Prior experience with robotics in surgery is required
• Must have neuro and ortho surgical experience due to case volume
• Must be available for call and demonstrate flexibility in scheduling

Clinical Experience & Case Types

• General Surgery: bowel, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, gastrectomy, hernia repairs, laparoscopic general surgeries, organ procurements, spleen, thyroid, tracheostomies, I&Ds, PEG tubes
• Gynecology: C-section, hysterectomy (abdominal/vaginal), laser procedures, salpingo-oophorectomy, tubal ligations
• Urology/Cystoscopy: circumcision, cystoscopy, hypospadias repair, lithotripsy, nephrectomy, orchiectomy, penile implant, prostate surgeries, TURP/TURB
• Orthopedics: arthroscopy, external fixation, closed reduction, total knees/hips, ORIF of shoulder, clavicle, humerus, radius/ulna, fingers/hand, acetabulum, pelvis, femur, tibia/fibula, ankle, foot
• Neurosurgery: ACDF, burr holes, craniotomy, tumor resection, laminectomy, shunts, external ventricular drain (EVD)
• Plastics: trauma plastics (mandible/maxilla, orbits), facial fractures, skin grafts, flaps
• Eye Surgery: enucleation, vitrectomy, globe rupture (mostly traumatic injuries)
• ENT: ethmoidectomy, sinus surgery, laryngectomy, tonsil/adenoidectomy, myringotomy, mastoidectomy, tympanoplasty, stapedectomy, nasal polypectomy, laryngoscopy
• Thoracic: hiatal hernia repair, lobectomy, thoracotomy, lung wedge resection
• Endoscopy: bronchoscopy, EGD, colonoscopy
• Pediatric cases may be encountered in emergency situations

Equipment & Technology

• Experience with Da Vinci robotic systems (x3)
• Use of Stealth navigation, O-arm imaging, and Holmium lasers

Additional Information

• Candidates must not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with a specific large healthcare system within a 50-mile radius
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply will result in contract termination
• Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO extensions allowed
• Must meet minimum performance scores ("3's") in all required surgical areas to be considered for submission

This position is ideal for experienced Surgical Techs with strong orthopedic, neurosurgical, and robotic surgery backgrounds seeking a 13-week contract with day and evening shifts and call responsibilities.
