Occupational Therapist Travel Position
Location: Washington, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning for patients. The role involves working day shifts (5 days a week, 8 hours per day) with approximately 36 guaranteed hours weekly. Weekend work includes one Saturday per month and one summer holiday.
Responsibilities
- Perform initial patient evaluations including review of orders, diagnoses, history, and subjective findings such as pain reports, patient/family goals, prior function, and discharge plans.
- Assess performance in areas of occupation including activities of daily living, education, work, play, leisure, and social participation.
- Evaluate performance skills (motor, process, communication/interaction) and performance patterns (habits, routines, roles).
- Consider factors influencing occupational performance such as context, activity demands, and client factors.
- Develop patient-centered, function-focused, measurable goals and provide patient/family education, equipment needs assessment, and follow-up recommendations.
- Provide treatment interventions addressing functional, psychological, cultural, educational, and spiritual needs.
- Conduct self-care/home management training and community/work reintegration including home/work/school environment adaptations.
- Utilize therapy interventions such as therapeutic procedures, neuromuscular reeducation, wheelchair/orthotic/prosthetic management, cognitive skill development, and sensory motor techniques.
- Apply therapeutic modalities including electrical stimulation, hot/cold packs, and paraffin.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and document collaboration thoroughly.
- Provide discharge education and recommend follow-up care as appropriate.
- Complete all documentation timely and in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Support departmental productivity and budgetary practices while maintaining quality standards.
- Maintain positive relationships with patients, families, and coworkers through effective communication.
- Pursue professional development and continuing education; provide supervision for students during clinical rotations.
- Participate in process improvement and outcomes monitoring to enhance patient care and regulatory compliance.
- Adhere to dress code and personal hygiene standards; consistently use appropriate personal protective equipment and universal precautions.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Occupational Therapist license in Missouri
Work Environment
- EMR system: EPIC
- Dress code: Black scrubs required
