Job Summary

The Registered Nurse provides clinical care tailored to the patient population on assigned units, ensuring quality, efficient, and safe care consistent with unit standards. The role involves collaboration with staff, physicians, patients, and families, demonstrating professionalism and respect.

Shift

• Days: 7 AM – 7 PM
• Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per month
• On Call: Yes, when census is low
• Floating: Yes, may float to different locations

Patient Ratio

• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:6

Department

• Acute Observation / Patient Care Services

Required Qualifications

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program

Licenses & Certifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year

Skills & Knowledge

• Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the patient population served
• Sensitivity to patients’ rights in care delivery
• Clear and age-appropriate communication skills

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases
• Clean, well-lit, ventilated, smoke-free environment
• Ability to handle emergency/crisis situations
• Prolonged standing and walking; physical effort required for patient positioning and equipment handling
• Good visual and hearing acuity; manual dexterity and fine motor coordination required
