RN Labor and Delivery

Overview

• 13-week assignment
• 36 hours per week
• Night shift: 19:00 - 07:00
• Adult and Pediatric patient population
• 25-bed unit
• 35 deliveries per month
• 3 RNs on duty per shift

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Labor and Delivery (2 years of experience)
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• Experience in an inpatient setting
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• NRP
• AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring

Preferred / Additional Credential Timing

• PALS within 3 months of start date

Unit Responsibilities

• High-risk pregnancies
• Labor, intrapartum, and postpartum care
• May also cover postpartum and simple MS / Pediatric patients based on skill level
• Pediatric post-surgical patients
• Pediatrics is low volume and usually observation only, including asthma exacerbation and hyperbilirubinemia
• Postpartum patients are cared for as couplets
• May float to postpartum, Peds, and MS coverage as needed

Scheduling / Operations

• As-needed float/on-call coverage
• Typically no call or weekends
• Weekly orientation
