Radiation Therapist

Location: Little River, South Carolina
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)

Job Description

• Administer therapeutic doses of ionizing radiation using advanced linear accelerators, Tomotherapy, or proton therapy units.
• Record and verify treatment software and simulate patients according to radiation oncologists' prescriptions and instructions.
• Maintain professional image and excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
• Administer daily prescribed radiation therapy doses and adhere to standard work protocols.
• Follow radiation protection principles to ensure safety of patients, self, and others.
• Accurately position patients for treatment according to prescription.
• Educate, prepare, and reassure patients and families by answering questions and reinforcing physician advice on treatment reactions and post-treatment care.
• Foster a caring, compassionate, and respectful environment for patients, families, and visitors.
• Contribute to training radiation therapy students.
• Demonstrate continued professional growth through goal setting and participation in educational offerings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Radiation Therapist license in South Carolina.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist.
• Radiation Therapist experience within the last year.
• At least 2 years of experience working on a radiation treatment machine treating patients.
