Job Opportunity: RN Step Down

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Work every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH) schedule.
Requires 2 years of experience in PCU (Progressive Care Unit) / Med-Surg Telemetry Acute Care.
Placement will be on a unit with the greatest need, which may be PCU, Med/Surg, or Telemetry units based on the nurse’s skills.
Candidates with experience as Med-Surg or Stepdown RN are acceptable (same credentialing for both).
Must be willing and able to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if needed.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Wisconsin
Minimum 2 years of experience in PCU (Progressive Care Unit), including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience in Med-Surg and Telemetry units

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

Proof of immunizations and health screenings including:
- MMR (2 doses or positive titer; no declinations accepted)
- Varicella (2 doses or immunity verification; no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine during flu season (mask required if declined)
- Tdap (valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted)
- TB testing (2-step PPD or IGRA with annual questionnaire; chest X-ray if positive)
Fit test for respiratory protection (3M 1860 or 1870+ masks) required annually.
Drug screening (12 panel) within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
Background checks including criminal history and employment verification.
Completion of specialty exams and core competencies (HIPAA, OSHA, Joint Commission, etc.) with minimum passing scores.
Health statement or physical exam prior to assignment and updated annually.
Driver’s license or state ID (must be current and match address requirements).
Professional references and resume/profile submission required.
Completion of onboarding education and training modules specific to nursing contingent workers.
Badge photo (headshot) required.

Additional Notes

Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
Floating to other units or nearby sites may be required based on staffing needs.
Must maintain all required certifications and complete annual updates as specified.

This position is ideal for experienced Step Down or Med-Surg RNs with strong acute care skills and flexibility to work in various related units.
