Job Opportunity: RN Step Down (Travel)

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work schedule: Every Other Week (EOW) and Every Other Holiday (EOH)
• Placement on units with greatest need: PCU, Med-Surg, or Telemetry Acute Care
• Accepts RNs with Med-Surg or Stepdown experience (same credentialing for both)
• Must be able to float onsite within skill set or to sites within 40 miles if needed
• Requires 2 years of PCU / Med-Surg Telemetry Acute Care experience

Required Qualifications

• License: Current RN license valid in Wisconsin
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in PCU / Med-Surg Telemetry Acute Care
• Certifications:

  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS (AHA)
  • NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group)
• Health Requirements:

  • Documented proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Documentation of Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza vaccine during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
  • Documented proof of two Varicella vaccines or immunity (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap vaccine valid within last 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • TB screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within 1 year, and annual TB questionnaire
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA within 90 days of start
• Drug Screening:

  • 12 panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
• Background Checks and Verifications:

  • Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and others within 30 days prior to start
  • Employment verification for past 7 years
  • Education verification within 90 days prior to start
  • License and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
• Competency and Skills:

  • Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc., updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension EKG Exam (passing score of at least 80%, updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Skills Checklist (completed within 1 year of start, updated annually)
  • Ascension Color Vision test (updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Epic Test-Out (completed prior to start)
• Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license or state ID (must match address on file)
  • Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
  • Resume/profile and at least two professional references prior to first assignment
  • Badge photo with white or blue background (no alterations)
  • Completion of onboarding education and attestations

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• Floating to other units or sites within 40 miles may be required based on need.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with a strong background in PCU, Med-Surg, or Telemetry Acute Care who are flexible and able to work in a dynamic environment.
