Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Position: Psychiatric Registered Nurse House Nurse Coordinator
• Preferred experience as House Nurse Coordinator, Charge Nurse, or Manager
• Must have 2+ years of current psychiatric nursing experience
• Float within scope of practice required
• Every other weekend required
• Schedule options:

  • 3 shifts per 12 hours (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) totaling 36 hours per week
  • 4 shifts per 12 hours (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) totaling 48 hours per two-week pay period
• Orientation occurs bi-weekly
• Must reside within 75 miles of the facility

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky or a compact RN license
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card certification (required for Psych/Behavioral Health)
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
• Competency exams relevant to specialty, renewed annually
• Core competency training (Parts I, II, III)
• Background checks including national and county searches, SAM/EPLS, OIG, and others as required within 30 days prior to start
• Physical exam within 1 year prior to start, stating clearance to work without restrictions
• Negative TB test via QuantiFERON blood test within 1 year prior to start (T-Spot/PPD not accepted)
• Immunization or titer proof for:

  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer)
  • Varicella (2 vaccinations or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination within 1 year
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap valid within 10 years (Td not accepted)
• Annual drug testing through specified 9-panel bundle (no THC) with expanded opiates and oxycodone, within 30 days of start
• Fit mask test to be completed onsite; PAPRs not accommodated due to facial hair
• Annual physical and health documentation updates required
• 2 professional references within 1 year of start date (one must be a supervisor)
• 7-year work history verification through third-party vendor or attestation letters
• Employment application/resume with education and work history
• Skills checklist updated annually
• Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification within 30 days prior to start, annually updated

Additional Information

• Experience with Meditech EMR preferred
• Assignment confirmation must be signed within 24 hours of offer
• Must submit with current valid driver’s license and required coversheet
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season; exemption requests must be submitted within 48 hours of offer acceptance and approved prior to start
• Various facility-specific documents and attestations required prior to start, including employee health attestation and safety manual acknowledgment
