Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Role involves floating between Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Postpartum (PP) units as part of a maternity float pool (true LDRP position).
• Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM), totaling 36 hours per week.
• Schedule includes every other weekend and holiday.
• Start dates available: June 10 or June 24 only.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
• Minimum 1 year of recent Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP) experience within the last year.
• Current certifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred.
• Experience with Labor and Delivery nursing.
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system.

Orientation and Testing Requirements

• Two pass/fail exams at orientation: Medication exam and Telemetry exam.
• Only one attempt allowed per exam; failure results in immediate contract cancellation.
• Telemetry exam required for RNs working in units with telemetry monitoring, including L&D.
• Study materials will be provided prior to orientation.
• Minimum passing score: 80%.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid driver’s license or state ID.
• Massachusetts Statewide iCORI (criminal background) clearance required within 30 days prior to start.
• 7-year criminal background check covering all counties lived/worked in within 30 days of start.
• Education verification of highest completed degree (transcript acceptable if education verification is unperformable).
• NURSYS license verification within 30 days prior to start.
• Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness to work without restrictions.
• Drug test within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required).
• Immunizations or valid declinations required for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (3-dose series, reactive titer, or declination valid for 1 year)
  • Flu vaccine or facility-specific declination (required during flu season)
  • COVID-19 vaccine (most recent) or facility-specific declination.
• TB testing: Two PPDs (one within 90 days, one within 1 year) or QuantiFERON/T-Spot within 90 days; positive TB requires chest X-ray and facility-specific TB questionnaire.
• TB questionnaire required for all candidates regardless of TB status.

Additional Requirements

• Employment application documenting 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
• Two professional references within the last three years.
• Skills checklist completed prior to start and updated annually as applicable.
• Up to 5 days of return-to-office (RTO) allowed.
