Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (Night Shift)

Job Summary

Seeking a well-rounded Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse with experience in a setting that includes a psychiatric holding area. The role requires flexibility to float between two nearby campuses.

Work Schedule

• Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and holidays
• Scheduling is based on unit needs; no block schedules allowed
• Must be flexible to start 4 hours before or after scheduled shift start time as needed

Patient Care & Unit Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
• Charting system: Epic
• No call requirements
• Telemetry and medication pass/fail tests required at orientation (must pass on first attempt with minimum 80%)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by the American Heart Association

Additional Requirements

• Must float between Leominster and Clinton campuses
• Must be able to pass two pass/fail tests at orientation for telemetry and medication
• Valid driver’s license or state ID required
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and state-specific clearances required
• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions
• Drug testing within 30 days of start date
• Immunizations or valid declinations required for:

  • COVID-19 (most recent vaccine or declination)
  • Flu seasonal vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B
• Tuberculosis screening: Negative TB test or chest X-ray and TB questionnaire required
• References: Two references within three years of start date
• Employment application must cover 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually

Orientation & Testing Notes

• Telemetry exam required only for RNs working in telemetry-monitored units, including Labor & Delivery
• Telemetry exam not required for OR, Psychiatry, Mother-Baby/Postpartum, and NICU units
• Only one attempt allowed to pass telemetry exam; failure results in immediate cancellation
• Medication exam required for all RNs

Important Notes

• July Return to Office (RTO) requests will only be approved for 1-2 days
• Start date must be on or before July 13
• No block scheduling available; scheduling is unit-driven
