Overview

  • Travel/Contract role in Wilmington, North Carolina
  • Night shift: 3x12, 18:45–07:15
  • 36 hours per week
  • 13-week contract
  • Float required as needed
  • Weekend coverage required: 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks
  • Call not required
  • Ratio: 1:6
  • Must be willing to work holidays
  • First-time travelers accepted if they have 2 years of cardiac experience
  • Locals accepted at local rate

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • Experience working with cardiac patients
  • Experience with cardiac drips
  • Experience with arterial lines
  • Experience with femoral sheaths and sheath management
  • Experience with chest tubes
  • Experience with epicardial pacing wires
  • Experience with TR band and Fem-stop
  • Experience with post-operative cardiac surgery recovery (CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO, carotid endarterectomy, vascular surgeries)
  • Experience with post-catheterization care
  • Experience with post-DCCV and post-electrophysiology procedures

Preferred Qualifications

  • NIHSS
  • MS/Tele/Step down experience

Unit / Clinical Details

  • Cardiac telemetry assignment
  • Patient population includes atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, aortic stenosis/regurgitation, mitral regurgitation/stenosis, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD/PAD, vasculitis, carotid stenosis, venous stasis, sheath management, and sheath removal
  • Procedures include CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO (Watchman procedure), VATS, carotid endarterectomy, FEM-POP bypass, amputations, other vascular surgeries, cardiac surgeries, thoracic surgeries, general thoracic surgery, post cath, post DCCV, post electrophysiology procedures, and pacemaker placements
  • Unit systems: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR
  • Unit orientation: 24 hours
  • Scrubs: navy blue pants and white top

Additional Notes

  • RTO after booking is not allowed
  • More than 7 days of RTO will not be accepted
  • Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team
  • Staff may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
  • Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid-contract may occur, with preassignment to units as needed
