Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Medical-Surgical Telemetry (MS/Tele)
  • Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year
  • Med Surg experience
  • Telemetry experience
  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

  • Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital

Scheduling & Hours

  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Block schedule accommodation requests require prior approval (not guaranteed)
  • Local candidates accepted

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid SC RN license verification (primary source)
  • NURSYS verification required
  • Background checks including:
    • SSN Trace
    • Statewide and national criminal checks
    • Sex offender registry
    • FACIS 3
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Education verification (diploma/transcripts)
  • Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination series)
    • Varicella (positive titer or vaccination series)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • TB testing: T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days of start; annual TB questionnaire required
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
  • Flu vaccination required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30), with medical/religious exemptions accepted (no declinations)
  • Respirator medical clearance annually (RespSafety questionnaire)
  • Color blindness testing prior to start
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
  • Competency exam required
  • Clear, passport-style badge photo required before start
  • Facility-specific orientation modules must be completed prior to start

Additional Notes

  • Travelers should be aware of potential hurricane season emergency response assignments (June - November)
  • Floating within scope is required to meet facility needs
  • Facility allows locals to work at a reduced rate (not relevant for pay details here)
