Job Description
- Floating required for most positions.
- Must be willing to float to NICU, PICU, ED, stepdown, and medical-surgical units as needed.
- 2 supervisory references required; one must be from a supervisor/manager.
- Prefers close to 2 years of nursing experience.
Required Qualifications
- License: Ohio State or Compact RN license required.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience preferred in specialty (Registered Nurse).
- References: Two professional references required (charge RN acceptable for one). Peer references not accepted.
Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA/AAP certification required for NICU RNs.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required as applicable.
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - Required as applicable.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including all counties lived/worked).
- Education verification through National Student Clearinghouse or in-house verification if needed.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
- Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting within 60 days of start, must be updated for each new contract.
- Sex offender search, Ohio Nurse Aide Registry, Ohio Inmate Registry, Ohio Medicaid Exemption, and Ohio State Abuse Registry searches required within 30 days of start.
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 60 days prior to start.
- Employment application and resume required.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframe; special protocols for positive TB results.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start.
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 31 - May 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted with facility approval.
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination required.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella vaccination or immunity documentation required.
- N95 fit testing required within 1 year of start and updated annually.
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start (facility accepts signed Infection Control Policy in lieu of physical exam copy).
Additional Information
- Must comply with facility float expectations.
- Legal name on all documents must match RN license and certifications exactly (no nicknames or aliases).
- Candidates undergoing name changes must provide proof.
- Address on driver’s license and other documents must be consistent and not within 60 miles of the facility to avoid being considered local.
