Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse
Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Minimum 2+ years of recent ICU experience required.
- Must have 3-6 months of Level IV Trauma or above experience.
- Experience with Meditech EMR.
- Patient ratio typically 1:2.
- Float within scope of practice required.
- Work schedule includes every other weekend.
- Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated.
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current Kentucky RN license or compact license.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for all RN specialties except OR and Psych).
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Kentucky.
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year.
- Trauma experience (3-6 months Level IV Trauma or above preferred).
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Orientation & Scheduling
- Orientation occurs bi-weekly.
- Start date on job is the required start date.
- Schedule is 36 hours worked / 48 hours off over a two-week pay period (may fluctuate with census and call-ins).
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background checks including national and county searches, criminal, sex offender, and employment verifications.
- Drug testing within 30 days of start (specific panel required).
- Annual physical exam or physician statement confirming ability to work without restrictions.
- Immunizations and/or titers for:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Td not accepted)
- Negative TB test via QuantiFERON blood test within one year prior to start (T-Spot/PPD not accepted).
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- References: Two professional references within one year of start date (one must be a supervisor).
- Work history verification covering 7 years.
- Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable, including medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, and core competencies.
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
- Must be able to complete all required attestations and verifications prior to start.
- PAPRs cannot be accommodated for fit testing; religious/medical exemptions reviewed onsite.
