Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse

Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Minimum 2+ years of recent ICU experience required.
• Must have 3-6 months of Level IV Trauma or above experience.
• Experience with Meditech EMR.
• Patient ratio typically 1:2.
• Float within scope of practice required.
• Work schedule includes every other weekend.
• Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated.

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Current Kentucky RN license or compact license.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• NIH Stroke Certification (required for all RN specialties except OR and Psych).

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kentucky.
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year.
• Trauma experience (3-6 months Level IV Trauma or above preferred).
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Orientation & Scheduling

• Orientation occurs bi-weekly.
• Start date on job is the required start date.
• Schedule is 36 hours worked / 48 hours off over a two-week pay period (may fluctuate with census and call-ins).

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Background checks including national and county searches, criminal, sex offender, and employment verifications.
• Drug testing within 30 days of start (specific panel required).
• Annual physical exam or physician statement confirming ability to work without restrictions.
• Immunizations and/or titers for:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Td not accepted)
• Negative TB test via QuantiFERON blood test within one year prior to start (T-Spot/PPD not accepted).
• Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
• References: Two professional references within one year of start date (one must be a supervisor).
• Work history verification covering 7 years.
• Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable, including medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, and core competencies.

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• Must be able to complete all required attestations and verifications prior to start.
• PAPRs cannot be accommodated for fit testing; religious/medical exemptions reviewed onsite.
