Cath Lab Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Shift: Day (4x10 hours), 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM
  • Hours per week: 40
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes
  • Call Requirement: Every 4th day and 1 weekend per month
  • Holiday Requirement: 2 major holidays and 1 minor holiday

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in Louisiana
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, including experience within the last year
  • Certifications:
    • ARRT(R) or RCIS
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • LSRT (Temporary LSRT accepted; issued within 3-5 days upon fee payment and proof of ARRT)
  • Experience with Epic system

  • Invasive Cardiology
  • Electrophysiology
  • Structural Heart
  • Interventional Radiology (IR)
  • Neuro Intervention
  • Pacemakers
  • EKG

Competencies & Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required within 12 months of start, updated annually, minimum 80%)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required within 12 months of start, updated annually, minimum 80%)
  • Core Competency Exams Part I, II, and III (required annually)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start (not required by employer but required by placement agency)
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper forms)
    • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (boosters required if titers low)
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declinations must be signed within 12 months of start)
    • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (boosters required if titer low)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray:
    • Qgold/Tspot or 2-step TB skin test within 3 months of start (effective on/after 9/23/2024)
    • For past positive TB: chest X-ray within 5 years and annual TB questionnaire required
  • Annual TB questionnaire required regardless of TB test result
  • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required Oct 1 – Mar 31 (exemptions and declinations accepted with proper forms; masks required if unvaccinated)
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date)

Background & Documentation

  • Background check within 6 months of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including:
    • Social Security trace
    • County, nationwide, sex offender, federal extended, FACIS Level 3 checks
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Government-issued photo ID required (name must match all documentation)
  • Employment application must include 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days

  • Scrubs provided by hospital
  • Must comply with employee appearance policy
  • E-Verify/I9 documentation required
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification not specifically required for this role but may be required depending on unit
