Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Marrero, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Work schedule options: alternating 3x12 and 4x12 shifts every other week, or straight 4x12 shifts
Patient population: Neuro/Stroke patients, Vascular surgeries, Multi-level back surgeries, General ICU
Float assignments across Neuro ICU (NCU), Surgical ICU (SCU), and General ICU with no specific unit assignment
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2-3
Weekend shifts required every other weekend
No on-call required

Required Experience & Skills

Minimum 2 years ICU experience with Neuro specialty
EPIC electronic health record experience required
Skills required:
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Continuous IV sedation
- Intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring including bolts/spinal drains
- Ventilator management
- Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) management

Required Certifications

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
NIH Stroke Certification
CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Blue Card accepted; may be completed onsite within 30 days of start
Preferred: CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse)

Required Licensure

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Louisiana

Additional Requirements

Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
Drug screening within 30 days of start
Immunizations and health documentation including:
- Tdap within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination (required Oct 1 – March 31)
Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency, updated annually
Employment application with 7 years of work history and no gaps over 30 days

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification
Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Skilled in continuous IV sedation
Experience with intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring, including bolts and spinal drains
Ventilator management experience
Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) management experience
