Job Opportunity: Occupational Therapist - Acute Care
Location: Tucson, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (40 hours/week)
- Includes 2 required weekend shifts
- Handles Adult Acute Therapy in ICU, ED, Med Surg, Ortho, Neuro, and Cardiac units
- Call and float responsibilities as needed
- No first-time travelers accepted
- Must have experience with Activities of Daily Living, adult OT, and Orthopedics
- EPIC electronic medical record system experience required
- Local candidates not eligible
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of Occupational Therapy experience in acute care
- Must meet a level 4 on the acute care skills checklist
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, not expiring within 30 days of start
- Current state OT license appropriate for Arizona
- Must provide 2 professional references from employment within the last 3 years, including at least 1 supervisory reference
- Employment application with detailed work history for the last 7 years, explaining any gaps of 30 days or more
Certifications & Competencies
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA or American Red Cross (if applicable)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., Crisis Prevention Institute, NIH Stroke Certification)
- Pass/Fail testing on EKG/Medication may be required depending on unit
- HIPAA competency with a passing score of 80% or higher, updated annually
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (if applicable)
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by physician, NP, or PA
- Fit testing for N95 masks within 1 year of start
- Immunizations and/or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within past 10 years; declinations allowed except for certain units)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (proof of vaccination or positive titer; declinations NOT accepted)
- Varicella (proof of vaccination or positive titer; declinations NOT accepted)
- Hepatitis B (proof of vaccination or positive titer; declinations allowed with signed form)
- Negative TB test (QuantiFERON Gold, Tspot, or PPD) within 3 months of start, renewed annually
- Drug testing: 12-panel urine drug screen within 30 days of start, must be started within 72 hours of booking
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30) or approved medical/religious exemption with facility-specific form
Background Checks & Documentation
- Background check must be completed and cleared within 30 days of assignment start
- Includes multi-county, multi-state, OFAC, National Sex Offender, and other required searches
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- State license verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
- Employment application and skills checklist updated annually
- Orientation and facility-specific documents required prior to start
Additional Notes
- Orientation is held twice monthly
- Candidates must acknowledge and comply with facility policies including tobacco, nicotine, and vaping policy
- Pass/fail testing consequences may include remediation or contract review
- No local candidates or first-time travelers accepted for this assignment
