Job Description

• Role focused on surgical pathology with emphasis on assisting pathologists in oncologic diagnoses.
• Part of a collaborative laboratory team.
• Responsibilities include:

  • Gross examination and dissection of large/complex specimens and small biopsies.
  • Sectioning surgical pathology specimens.
  • Specimen accessioning, fixation, receipt, and labeling.
  • Obtaining biological samples for flow cytometry.
  • Tumor triage.
  • Assisting in bone marrow collection.
  • Cutting and staining frozen sections.
• Use of cryostat and bone saw.
• EPIC documentation system.
• Scrubs provided.
• 16 hours of orientation.
• First-time travelers are welcome.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pathologists' Assistant.
• Experience as a Pathologists' Assistant within the last year.

Licensure & Certifications

• Must hold appropriate licensure for Pathologist Assistant role.
• Required certifications may include:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) if applicable
  • Other certifications as required by specialty or facility policies.

Additional Requirements & Information

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• Background checks including social security trace, nationwide checks, and education verification.
• Compliance with facility-specific policies such as a 100% nicotine-free environment.
• Annual skills checklist required.
• Health documentation including:

  • Physical exam within last 12 months.
  • Immunizations and titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as per protocol.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved declination.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually.
