Job Opportunity: Pediatric Stepdown Registered Nurse

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in a Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown unit
• Patient diagnoses include cardiac defects (medical and surgical)
• Care for patients with tracheostomies, ventilators, high flow nasal cannula
• Manage post-operative cardiac catheterizations and care after CTICU
• Administer inotropes and care for heart and lung transplant patients

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with pediatric patients
• ACLS and BLS certifications issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing

Certifications Required

• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
• Other certifications as applicable to specialty/unit

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including all counties lived/worked)
• Education verification through National Student Clearinghouse or equivalent
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting within 60 days of start (must be updated for each new contract)
• Drug screening (9-panel) within 60 days prior to start
• State-specific registry and abuse registry checks within 30 days of start
• Sex offender search within 30 days of start
• Ohio Nurse Aide Registry search within 30 days of start
• TB testing or IGRA within 12 months, with additional requirements for positive results
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (or signed Infection Control Policy in lieu of physical)
• N95 fit testing within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Required immunizations and titers including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Flu vaccine (required during flu season, medical/religious exemptions accepted with documentation)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (vaccination or titer proof required)

Additional Requirements

• Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start
• Affiliating Health Record to be completed and verified
• Fit test proof or appointment required if testing onsite
• Compliance with facility-specific infection control policies
• Must not be considered a local hire (Ohio driver’s license address must be outside 60 miles of facility)
