Pediatric OR Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Needham, Massachusetts
Position Details
- Job Title: Pediatric OR Registered Nurse
- Location: Needham, Massachusetts
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day shifts, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Work Setting: Operating room with float between multiple satellite locations
- Clinical Areas: Orthopedics/sports medicine, GI, dental, general surgery, plastics, gynecology, genitourinary, ophthalmology, dermatology
- Role: Circulate and scrub in surgeries
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
- Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Pediatric Operating Room experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Background Requirements
- Background Check:
- 10-year criminal background check within 6 months prior to start, including aliases and multiple federal/state databases
- Must be initiated within 24 hours of booking
- International background checks if candidate has lived/worked outside the U.S. in last 10 years
- Annual background check required for direct hires
- Statewide iCORI Release: Massachusetts CORI release required within 60 days of start
- EEC Background Check Consent: Required for behavioral health and psych positions (if applicable)
- Employment Application: Must include 10-year work history; gaps over 30 days require explanation
- Professional References: Two references from two separate employers within last three places of employment
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, NP, or registered DC; must state cleared to work with no restrictions
- Immunizations:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap must be given after age 11; declinations not accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray per facility protocol (annual requirement)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer required
- Varicella - proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer required
- Hepatitis B - must meet one of the following: series + positive titer, series + declination, positive titer + declination, or declination only (signed within 30 days of start)
- Seasonal Vaccines:
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (8/1 – 3/31) or approved medical/religious exemption
- COVID-19 vaccine or approved exemption required; seasonal COVID vaccine preferred but not mandatory
- Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (not required for advanced practice nurses)
Additional Requirements
- Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required for all travelers regardless of current fit test status; facility-specific fit testing done onsite
- Skills Checklist: Must be current within one year prior to start, specific to scope of practice
- Competency Exams: Pediatric medication/pharmacology competency exam required for RNs and LPNs (not required for APNs)
- Onboarding: Completion of onboarding packet required approximately 2 weeks prior to start
- Smartsheet Submission: Required for flu and COVID vaccine documentation if vaccines were completed outside the facility
Notes
- Candidate must be prepared to float between multiple satellite OR locations.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
- ACLS certification is preferred but not mandatory.
- All verifications (licenses, certifications) must be completed within 30 days prior to start.
- Background checks and immunizations must be up to date and compliant with facility policies.
