Registered Nurse (ICU) - Travel/Contract
Location: Redlands, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- ICU RN position at a community hospital ICU.
- Start date: 12/10.
- One RTO (return to office) up to 7 consecutive days considered; no holiday RTO.
- Provider support includes interpretation services, lift teams, pharmacy, phlebotomy, physical therapy, radiology, rapid response teams, respiratory services, social services, transportation, and unit secretary.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years ICU experience required. First-time travelers will be considered.
- Work Schedule: On call, weekends, and float required.
- Documentation System: Meditech.
- Communication: SBAR communication method.
- Dress Code: Blue scrubs (plain, no logos; not provided).

- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Multi-system organ failure
- Post cardiac surgery care (not directly from OR)
- IV insulin protocols
- GI surgery care
- Chronic/acute renal failure
- Accessing ports
- Arterial line management
- Blood product administration
- Central line care/management
- PICC line management
- Starting IVs
- Continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation administration
- Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- CVA/acute stroke management
- External ventricular drains (EVD)
- Hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun
- ICP monitoring
- Post neurosurgery management
- Traumatic brain injury care
- Assist with BiPAP and CPAP management
- Assist with chest tube insertion/removal
- Care of ventilated patients
- High flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
- Interpretation of ABGs
- Suctioning (ETT, NT)
- Ventilator management
- Infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE use
- Phlebotomy
- Surgical wounds with drains/Wound Vac care
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU)
- Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)
- ECMO
- Post cardiac surgery (directly from OR)
- Pre/post cardiac catheterization/intervention
- Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring
- Sheath removal
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- I9 form, Driver’s License/State ID or Passport
- E-Verify
- Background checks including SS trace, county searches (7 years), nationwide, sex offender, and international if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- State license primary source verification within 30 days of start and upon expiration
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start and upon expiration
- Medication and competency exams as applicable
- Signed acknowledgments for safety manual, job description, physical demands, code of conduct, confidentiality, abuse reporting, employee handbook, drug-free workplace policy, sexual harassment, and other facility-specific policies
- Photo for badge (recent, color, plain background)
- Employee health services consent and screenings (including tuberculosis screening and form)
- Physical exam within last 12 months, updated annually
- Fit mask testing prior to start (specific approved masks; no facial hair allowed)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2-step PPD, Q Gold, or T-Spot within 90 days, updated annually)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella titers or vaccines within 90 days
- Flu seasonal vaccination or declination (mask required if declined)
- COVID vaccination plus booster or approved exemption
- Drug testing: 10-panel drug screen including THC within 30 days of start
- Color blind exam (Ishihara test) for clinical positions
- References: 2 professional references within 2 years required for Vaya
