Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Registered Nurse)
- Prior Travel Experience: Required (No first-time travelers)
- Special Skills: EPIC experience required
- Preferred Experience: Trauma Level 1 experience preferred
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Call Requirements: Yes, 2 to 3 shifts per 4-week schedule
- Weekend Requirements: 2-4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- Time Off Restrictions: Minimize time off requests from 2/13 to 2/22 (Mardi Gras period)
- Scrubs: Navy Blue
- Maximum RTO: Strict 5 days max
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
Preferred Certifications
- CCRN
- NIHSS
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Additional Requirements
- Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- State nursing license verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
- Competency exams (Medication Test/Pharmacology, Dysrhythmia/EKG, Core Parts I-III) required annually
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (not required by facility but required by placement agency)
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 3 months of start)
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer required
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer required
- Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31) with exemptions accepted
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (specific panels depending on hire date)
Notes
- Employment application must include 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days
- Strict adherence to facility appearance policy and other facility-specific guidelines
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification may be required depending on unit assignment
This position is ideal for experienced travel nurses with prior travel assignments, EPIC proficiency, and critical care or trauma experience.
