Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Akron, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Experience
- Specialty: Registered Nurse

Licensure & Certifications

- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for many specialties including Med/Surg, ICU, ER, etc. Must be current at start.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for PICU, Pediatric Stepdown, Pediatric OR; preferred but not required for PACU.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for Labor & Delivery, OB/GYN, NICU.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Required for ER; preferred for other areas.
- NIH Stroke Certification: Preferred for many units including ICU, Neuro ICU, ER, Telemetry, etc. Must be current.
- CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room): Preferred but not required for RNFAs.
- Tech Certifications: Required for CVOR and similar specialties.
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment.
- Background check required prior to start, including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting.
- Fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and results updated annually. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- Education verification required for all candidates.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam. Must confirm ability to safely perform job functions.
- Fit mask test (N95) required within 12 months and updated annually. PAPRs approved case-by-case.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually. Instant drug screens not accepted.
- Eye exam required within 1 year for new candidates signing after 4/11/2025.
Documentation & Onboarding
- Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years clinical practice in acute care or similar area.
- Two professional references required from recent employment within 1 year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
- Annual skills checklist and unit-specific competency exams required.
- Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication dosing required onsite during orientation (except OR nurses).
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory. Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone.
- Photo for badge required for certain roles (e.g., OR Tech First Assistants).
Additional Notes
- Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
- Physical exam and eye exam do not need to be updated annually if currently on assignment without a break in employment.
- For return candidates with a gap less than or equal to 40 days, some health documents may not need to be updated.
- Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines are reviewed on a case-by-case basis; declinations are not accepted.

Cleveland Clinic, the main campus, cuts the staff when adding more work. This is very disorganized and harmful to the rest of the staff.
