Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Position Details

• Patient Ratios: 1:2
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-Call Requirement: Yes; 2 additional shifts or 2 on-call shifts per 6 weeks required
• Floating: Yes; may float to 3rd or 4th floor med/surg tele units
• Block Schedule: Not accommodated
• Local Candidates: Not accepted (must be 75 miles from facility)
• Pending License: Accepted if obtained prior to start
• Attendance Policy: Missing more than two shifts per 13-week contract without reasonable explanation may lead to contract review/cancellation

Licensure & Certifications Required

• RN License: Required

• Certifications:

  • ACLS (AHA or RQI acceptable)
  • BLS (AHA or RQI acceptable)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for ICU)

• Preferred Certifications:

  • CCRN (Critical Care RN) preferred

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

• 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
• South Carolina statewide search required regardless of residence
• Education verification (highest level for RNs: associate, bachelor, master, or doctorate)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals

Health & Immunization

• Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start
• Immunizations or exemptions required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or declination)
  • Varicella
  • Flu seasonal vaccination or declination (mask required if declined during flu season)
  • COVID-19 (Dose 1 and 2 required or declination form)
• Drug testing within 60 days of start (10 panel + Oxy + Marijuana)
• Respiratory safety clearance within 1 year if respirator use is required

Competencies & Testing

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required annually
• Pass/fail testing on EKG and medication calculations on first day of orientation (two attempts allowed)
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
• On-call policy form required for ICU and other specified units

• Must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service
• Facility-specific photo for badge (headshot on plain background)

• Skills checklist updated annually
• References: 2 references within 3 years of start required (Qualivis requirement)
