Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)

Position Details

• Specialty: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN MS)
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
• Call Requirements: None
• Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive days; no RTO on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after a holiday
• Floating: Mandatory float facility; all staff required to float within scope as needed
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Charting System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue
• Facility Type: Level 1 Trauma Center

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in Medical Surgical nursing
• Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Illinois
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification - Required (must be current and updated annually)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Preferred

Additional Requirements

• Must live within 75 miles of the facility (local candidates preferred)
• Pending licenses are not accepted
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background Check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Physical Exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
• Fit Mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, required annually
• Immunizations and Titers:

  • Tdap within 10 years or signed declination (declination must be within 12 months)
  • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually (PPD not accepted after 12/15/2025)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer (booster if low titer)
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (booster if low titer)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination (declination within 1 year)
• Drug Screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
• Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
• Competency Exams: Medication/Pharmacology, Color Blind Testing, and general Competency Exam required within 12 months of start

• This is a mandatory float position; flexibility to work in different units within scope is required
• Local candidates preferred due to commuting requirements
• No block scheduling available
• No call or holiday time off allowed
