Job Opportunity: Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer
Location: Saratoga Springs, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- Additional Shift: Every 6th Sunday, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
- Local Travel Restriction: Candidates must reside outside the following counties: Warren, Washington, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Albany, Columbia, Greene, Dutchess, Ulster (within 50 miles local rule)
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer
- ARDMS certification preferred
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required (American Heart Association or American Red Cross preferred)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred
- Must successfully pass an advanced EKG/ECG competency exam with a minimum 90% score within 72 hours of contract signing (including 100% on lethal rhythms)
- Must complete medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Must complete color blindness testing (Ishihara’s test) prior to start (can be done onsite)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including completion of TSH Medical History form
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold) within 1 year of start; chest x-ray if prior positive PPD
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
- Measles (Rubeola): 2 MMR boosters or positive titer
- Mumps: 2 MMR boosters or positive titer
- Rubella: 2 MMR boosters or positive titer
- Varicella: 2 boosters or positive titer
- Hepatitis B: Titer, declination, or vaccine series
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required by December 5th, 2024 (mask required if exempt)
- Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training (New York State requirement for RNs and LPNs)
Additional Requirements & Competencies
- Must provide a government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
- Must complete background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific registry checks
- Must provide a passport-style photo for badge
- Must complete facility-specific forms including lift assessment (typically 25 lb), FCRA authorization, ECG study guide review, N95 OSHA questionnaire, and PPD questionnaire
- Must complete virtual general orientation and clinical testing modules prior to start
- Must complete NIH Stroke certification if assigned by facility
- Must complete advanced EKG/ECG remediation course if initial competency exam is failed (up to 3 attempts allowed)
- References: 2 professional references required for travel/allied/per diem acute care roles
