Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Middlebury, Vermont
Contract Length: 16 weeks

Job Description

• Urgent fill for a Medical/Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS Tele RN)
• Schedule: Minimum of every other weekend and/or adjusted to meet unit and patient care needs
• No block schedules
• Monday to Sunday shifts
• Bi-weekly orientations available on Mondays

Requirements

• Specialty: Medical/Surgical Telemetry Nursing
• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years MS Tele experience required (progressive care experience preferred)
• Prior Travel Experience: Required
• Charge RN experience with insulin drip and cardiac drip required
• EPIC experience within the past 2 years required (non-negotiable)
• Certifications:

  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification required prior to start

Additional Information

• Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended (no public transportation available)
• Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires from November through April
• Employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
• Complete and detailed work history required (including bed count, EMR, facility type, etc.)

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Education verification based on highest degree
• Certification verifications (BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, etc.)
• State license verification and NURSYS verification (updated annually)
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as required
• Color blind testing
• Vermont Adult and Child Abuse Registry consent and search
• COVID-19 related requirements including vaccination attestation and testing protocols
• Photo for badge (passport style)
• Auto insurance proof (valid throughout assignment)
• Facility-specific policies (dress code, telephone usage)
• Completion of EPIC and Cornerstone training modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours, not billable)
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• N95 fit test prior to assignment and updated annually
• Required vaccinations and titers: Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu seasonal vaccination or exemption, Pneumonia vaccination if applicable
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within past 12 months
• Drug testing within 12 months of start
• References: 2 professional references from assignments within last 3 years
• Employment application and skills checklist within 12 months
• Work history verification for last 2 years

Important Notes

• Candidates must complete all required documentation and training prior to start date
• Flu vaccine or exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31) for Vermont placements; declinations not accepted
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved declination required
• Candidate must have reliable transportation due to lack of public transit options
• Orientation and onboarding processes are time-sensitive and must be completed as scheduled

This position is ideal for experienced MS Tele Registered Nurses with prior travel experience who are comfortable with critical care drips and EPIC documentation in a fast-paced environment.
