Registered Nurse - Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool (Travel/Contract)

Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night Shift, 3x12s
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
License Requirements: Must be licensed to work in Missouri; Kansas license preferred or willingness to obtain.


Job Description

  • Float between Pediatric Critical Care units on the same campus (PICU, NICU, CVPICU).
  • Floating limited to similar specialties within critical care; no floating outside acuity level.
  • Pediatric critical care experience in PICU, NICU, or CVPICU preferred.
  • Prior travel experience required.
  • Flexible schedules preferred.
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate.

Required Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse in Pediatric Critical Care (PICU, NICU, CVPICU)
  • Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated, but implied preference for experienced critical care pediatric nurses.

  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated every 6 months.
  • Missouri Highway Patrol Check required.
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start.
  • E-Verify or attestation proof required.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands (initial and annual).
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years.
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray per facility protocol.
  • Annual TB questionnaire.
  • Proof of immunizations or titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (3 vaccines, titer, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required annually (no declinations accepted).
  • Respiratory safety clearance or questionnaire as applicable.

Orientation & Competency Testing

  • Medication calculation/dosage test during orientation (100% passing required; three attempts allowed).
  • Pediatric pharmacology competency exam.
  • Pediatric skills checklist as applicable.
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgement.
  • Pass/fail testing (EKG/medication) required for RNs.
  • Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing required for RNs.

Additional Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service.
  • Residency declaration form if working on a compact license.
  • Facility-specific health forms, TB questionnaire, and medication review packet to be completed prior to or at start.
  • References: Two supervisory references or performance evaluations within 1 year of start.
  • Employment application/resume required.
  • Performance evaluation if employed with agency over 12 months.
  • Internal evaluation if worked with agency over 2 years.
  • Missouri and Kansas EDL search results required.

  • Small chance of floating to Kansas units; hence KS license preferred or willingness to obtain.
