Job Description

Provide nursing care in a hospital setting to patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex, under general supervision.

Essential Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy drugs, PO and SC injections, and other medications as ordered by physicians.
• Consult with medical personnel and provide expert information about chemotherapy and side effects.
• Take responsibility for clinic-specific assignments.
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed treatments; note changes in physician orders.
• Assist physicians during conscious sedation and minor diagnostic procedures.
• Obtain and monitor physiological data; observe patient conditions and intervene as necessary.
• Administer medications, initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
• Deliver competent patient care.
• Communicate care plans to patients and families during clinic visits, discharge, and follow-up via phone triage.
• Educate patients and families on chemotherapy-related information and answer inquiries.
• Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
• Delegate tasks to support staff.
• Schedule patient follow-up activities and assist with coordination of care, including referrals and post-visit phone calls.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience.
• Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
• Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
• Basic computer skills.
