Job Description
Under the direct, on-premise supervision of a licensed physical therapist, you will provide physical therapy treatment procedures to an assigned inpatient caseload. Responsibilities include:
- Reading and reviewing medical records to understand patient diagnosis, precautions, goals, and treatment plans.
- Providing direct interventions in individual or group sessions, including gait training, exercise, and modalities.
- Treating patients in various hospital settings, including ambulatory care.
- Evaluating patient responses to interventions and documenting progress.
- Instructing patients and parents on home programs, especially gait training and transfers.
- Communicating patient progress or issues to the physical therapist.
- Performing care coordination tasks such as communication with hospital and community providers and tracking medical equipment.
- Maintaining an orderly environment in the physical therapy gym and treatment areas.
Additional duties include maintaining current skills through ongoing learning, pursuing departmental competencies, attending in-services, and participating in department planning meetings.
Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Patient Population: Experience with neurologic/brain injury patients or higher medical acuity preferred. Pediatric experience is preferred but not required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapy Assistant license in Pennsylvania
- Minimum of 1 year of Physical Therapy Assistant experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in inpatient rehabilitation settings
- Experience working with neurologic/brain injury populations
- Experience with patients of higher medical acuity
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 1 year of pediatric experience
Additional Information
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with parents, children of various ages, peers, and supervisors.
- Possibility of contract extension or conversion, but not guaranteed.
