Location: Norfolk, Virginia
Employment type: LongTerm
Contract length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour nights, 36 GWW, weekends and rotating holidays
Unit: Peds ED List A
Beds/rooms/bays: 31 to 40
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
Parking is available; a parking pass is needed
Dress code: Scrubs

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Pediatrics ER - Emergency Room (2 years of experience)
Pediatrics ER - Emergency Room experience within the last year
PALS issued by American Heart Association
BLS issued by American Heart Association
CPI
TNCC
ACLS issued by American Heart Association

Unit Details

Ancillary staff used: Tech; LPN/LVN
Common diagnoses/treatments: Asthma, DKA, Neonate with fever, Sickle Cell Disease
Special procedures: moderate sedations, Breathing Treatments, Chest Tube Set-up/Care, CPAP/BiPap, Homes vents, High Frequency Vents, Procedure Sedation, RSI - Rapid Sequence Intubation Drugs, Trach Care, Vents
Blood/Blood Products Administration, Cardioversion / Defribillation, Cooling / Warming Blanket, CVP, 12 Lead EKG Interpretation, Rapid Transfusions
Line management/equipment: Drains; Triple Lumen Catheter; Port-A-Cath/Vascula Device Access/Care; PICC/Central Lines; PCA Pumps; Feeding Tubes
Critical care areas applicable: Burns; Cardiac; Medical; Neuro; PICU; Surgical; Transplant; Trauma
