Registered Nurse - Intermediate Care

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel

Contract Length

13 weeks

Work Schedule & Hours

Guaranteed 36 hours per week
12-hour shifts, day/night variable (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Every other weekend and holiday required
Call back minimum of 2 hours; may be placed on call during low census

Unit & Patient Information

36-bed Medical Surgical Intermediate Care unit
Heavy telemetry patients including stable and weaning ventilators/tracheostomies, sepsis, trauma alcohol detox, GI bleed, colostomy/ileostomy, chest tubes, TBI, orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injury, and stroke
Patient ratio: 4:1 for primary patients and insulin drips
Float to all inpatient units as needed, typically higher acuity units

Required Certifications

Wisconsin RN License
BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Experience Requirements

Minimum 2+ years of experience required (firm)
Stepdown/Intermediate/PCU experience required
Ventilator and tracheostomy experience required
ICU experience preferred
Trauma Level II experience preferred

Prior Travel Experience

At least 1 prior travel contract required

Additional Information

EPIC charting experience preferred
Must be able to manage independently, work in a fast-paced environment, and adapt to change
Scrub colors: any color allowed
Mask wearing required during flu season if flu and COVID vaccinations are declined (Aspirus policy)
Contractors must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility

This position is ideal for experienced Intermediate Care RNs with ventilator/trach skills and prior travel experience seeking a travel contract in Wisconsin.
