Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Description
- 24-bed max capacity med-surg unit focused on at-risk patients
- Secured unit with enhanced safety features: whole-unit video monitoring, ligature alarms, anti-barricade doors, badge-secured entrance
- Scheduling flexibility: every other weekend; 36 or 48 hours/week options can be discussed during interview
Required Documentation & Compliance
Identification & Employment Eligibility
- Proof of I9 or Attestation
- Valid Photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- Proof of E-Verify or Attestation
Background Checks
- 7-year background check required within 60 days of start (includes alias search, counties lived/worked/school, national criminal, sex offender, social security trace, FACIS III/OFAC)
- International background check if traveled outside USA in last 7 years (exceptions for military on US ships not stationed abroad)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG exclusions checks within 60 days of start
- Missouri-specific background searches (MO FCSR or MO Caregiver search) required within 60 days; candidate cannot start with both pending
- Facility may allow start with pending background checks on a case-by-case basis
Education Verification
- Verification of degree required within 1 year of start for certain specialties (e.g., Medical Lab Scientist, Histotechnician)
- Check specialty-specific requirements for others
Certifications Required (AHA or ARC Provider Cards unless otherwise noted)
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for all RNs
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for RNs in Cath Lab, CCU, CVICU, Endo/GI, ER, GI Lab, ICU, Interventional Radiology, L&D, MICU, Neuro ICU, PACU, SICU, Tele; also required for RRTs/CRTs
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for ER, Pediatrics, PICU, and RRTs/CRTs
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for L&D, NICU, Postpartum, Nursery RNs, and RRTs/CRTs in NICU/PICU
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy Certification): Required for Oncology (new requirement as of 3/28/25)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Required for all pre-start ER RNs as of 11/5/2024
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Required for L&D RNs, must be updated every 2 years
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required for Psych/Behavioral Health RNs (Blue Card, can be completed onsite if needed)
Allied & Specialty Certifications
- Verification of specialty certifications required within 60 days for allied health professionals (e.g., ARRT for CT Tech, ASCP for Histologic Technician, RRT for Respiratory Therapists, etc.)
- State license primary source verification required within 60 days for applicable roles (e.g., Pharmacy Tech, Med Lab Technician, Radiation Therapist)
- NURSYS verification required for RN, LPN/LVN, AP within 60 days
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, must be initiated within 48 hours of signing
- Fit Mask Test: Valid fit test within 1 year required (exceptions for some techs and EVS); failed fit tests require notification and tracking
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Required within 10 years or approved exemption (for candidates signed on or after 7/1/2023)
- TB Screening: Negative QGold, TSpot, or 2-step PPD within 1 year; positive TB requires chest x-ray and INH treatment documentation or facility-specific recommendation
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters may be needed if titer low; no declinations accepted, medical exemptions require facility approval
- Hepatitis B: Series or positive titer required for candidates signed on or after 7/1/2023; declinations no longer accepted without exemption
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if titer low; no declinations accepted, medical exemptions require facility approval
- Drug Testing: Negative 7-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
- Flu Vaccination: Required during flu season (10/01 - 03/31) or approved medical/religious exemption with facility approval
- COVID-19 Vaccine: No longer required as of 11/21/2023
Competency & Training Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Competency exams as applicable to specialty
- Core HIPAA and safety training (for subcontractors, signed Lotus HIPAA form or core testing acceptable)
- Conscious Sedation Competency Exam for GI Lab RNs
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references within last 2 years (required for non-clinical roles)
- Resume with minimum 7 years employment history, no gaps over 30 days, education details, and contact info
- Photo for badge (new candidates only)
- Facility-specific forms including confidentiality agreement, new hire packet, TB survey, flu exemption requests, and employment eligibility certification
