Job Details

• Orientation:

  • Held bi-weekly on Tuesdays from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Mount Carmel Hospital
  • Orientation dates for 2025: 10/21, 11/04, 11/18, 12/02, 12/16, 12/30

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience in specialty within the last 3 years
• BLS certification (must be AHA)
• Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting; must be from a supervisor (Charge RNs acceptable if they directly supervised)
• EPIC experience required

Systems Used

• Charting System: EPIC
• Medication System: Pyxis

Separation Policy

• 3-month separation required between assignments

Certifications (as applicable)

• BLS (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
• ACLS (if required by specialty)
• PALS (if required)
• NRP (if applicable)
• Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification for Labor & Delivery RNs
• IV Certification (LVN/LPN/Other, if applicable)
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable)
• NIH Stroke Certification (required for ICU, ER, Tele/PCU RNs)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) (if applicable)
• State License verification and NURSYS verification required for all RNs
• Other specialty or facility-specific certifications as required

Background and Compliance Checks

• Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
• Education verification required for all candidates
• State-specific searches for Washington and Oregon as applicable
• Drug testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• References and employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
• Skills checklists and competency exams as applicable

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
• Fit mask test (travel only, required for new starts on or after 2/5/2024)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer, or declination
• Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
• Varicella vaccination or positive titer, or declination
• Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
• COVID-19 vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
• Respiratory safety clearance for travel candidates (not required for Per Diem after 5/20/24)

Orientation and Training Requirements

• Completion of Providence PD Unit Orientation Checklist (before moving to PDW for RNs; first shift for others)
• Completion of EPIC training modules within one week of orientation
• Completion of required WorkRamp modules based on region, specialty, and facility (Core, Specialty, Regional, and Annual Regulatory modules)
• Badge photo and agency badge required prior to orientation
• Providence account must be claimed and confirmation provided before orientation

Additional Notes

• Float Policy Acknowledgement required; may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
• Minimum documentation and compliance requirements must be met prior to start and maintained throughout assignment
• Candidates must maintain all certifications and health requirements as per Providence policies

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with EPIC experience looking for flexible Per Diem work in a hospital setting in Washington state.
