Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics - Travel/Contract
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts, every other weekend required
Licensure & Certification Requirements
- Indiana State License (IN license) must be in hand to submit
- NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, RQI acceptable
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, RQI acceptable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA NRP only; required for Labor & Delivery (L&D) placements, may be obtained after offer
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred
- Education must be accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited by CHEA
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 18 months recent experience in NICU or PICU
- Trauma 1 experience in a children's hospital within the last year required
- Must have Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience (primary assignment in L&D)
- Experience with ventilators: Servo I, Servo U, Hamilton G5
Unit & Floating Information
- Primary assignment in NICU, PICU, or Pediatrics units
- Floating between NICU, PICU, and Pediatrics units expected
- May also float to IU Health North Hospital
Important Notes
- First-time travelers accepted
- Effective 11/30/2024, Indiana RNs are generally not allowed to work at IU Health facilities except for Perioperative/OR RNs, Allied Health, and Ambulatory RNs (including ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS)
- Mandatory completion of IU Health-specific RRT modules prior to orientation (21 modules, deadline Friday before start) for RRT candidates
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks including 7-year history, SSN trace, county/state/national checks, sex offender registry, FACIS Level III
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Official transcript or diploma (clear copy) showing degree and graduation date
- Education verification by third party
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (not required for Techs or RRTs)
- Unit competency exam
- HIPAA and safety manual acknowledgements
- Online verification of Indiana license within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit test within 12 months of start (specific approved respirators required)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no exemptions accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no exemptions accepted
- Seasonal Flu vaccination/documentation required for 2025-26 season (no declinations accepted)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Color blind exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
- Minimum 2 professional references from recent employment (charge, manager, supervisor, or above)
- Current employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
Additional Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion of IU Health compliance checklists and confidentiality agreements (time sensitive)
- Completion of IU Health Look of Assurance packet prior to start
- Completion of IU Health Self Study Orientation & Test (for certain IU Health facilities)
- Completion of IU Health Fast Track Slide Packet and signature forms (for certain IU Health facilities)
- Proof of valid auto insurance required for travelers under Hospice specialty
