Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Population
- Medical Surgical/Telemetry 4/5 Lied unit (20-bed general medical surgical and telemetry unit including ortho patients)
- Patient types include:
- Total Knee and Hip replacements
- Complicated orthopedic cases
- Pulmonary, sepsis, GI, endocrine, cardiac, renal, psychiatric illnesses
Shift & Ratios
- Shift options: 36 or 48 hours
- Ratios:
- Days: 1:5
- Nights: 1:6 (can rarely be 1:7)
- 5th floor complex discharges may have 1:10 at night (with support for weekly assessments, vitals, labs)
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 in a 4-week period
- Days: Saturday and Sunday
- Nights: Friday night and Saturday night
Requirements & Preferences
- Minimum 2 years telemetry experience in a large, urban hospital required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Drip management required on all floors
- First-time travelers NOT accepted unless they have 2 years experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
- BLS required
- ACLS, CPI, NIH preferred
- Must float within scope to meet facility needs (may float to multiple units including Bellevue campus)
- Locals NOT accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility)
- Pending license accepted but must be in hand before start or booking will be delayed 6 weeks
- Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays

- 100% nicotine-free facility
- Scrubs: Mandatory Steele gray scrubs with facility logo (provided after confirmation)
- Parking: Permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking option
Team Composition
- Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics, and some LPNs
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background check within 30 days of start (includes extensive checks and must be updated annually)
- SAM and OIG checks required every 30 days
- Education verification and primary source license verification required
- Certifications required as applicable: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification
- Health documents required: Physical exam, fit mask test, immunizations (Tdap, MMR, Hep B, Varicella), drug screen, TB testing, flu vaccine documentation preferred
- COVID-19 vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemptions accepted
- References: 2 work references from past 2 years required
- Annual skills checklist required
- State-specific registry checks required
Additional Notes
- Must submit requests for time off (RTO) with application; up to 2 weeks permitted, additional at manager discretion
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
- Eye exam required only for OR staff
