Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Location: Lancaster, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Labor & Delivery RN (LDRP experience preferred)
  • Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM)
    • Manager may consider 4x12 shifts if staffing requires
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 1:2
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend as needed
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: Required to float within scope to sister units
  • Patient Population: Mostly high-risk patients

Experience & Licensing Requirements

  • Experience Required: Minimum 2+ years in Labor & Delivery with ability to catch and transition infants after delivery
  • First-timers: Not accepted
  • Licensure: South Carolina RN license or Multi-State/Compact RN license required

Certifications Required

  • Mandatory:
    • BLS (American Heart Association only)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program, AHA/AAP only)
    • ACLS (American Heart Association only)
  • Preferred:
    • STABLE certification
  • Additional Notes:
    • Certifications must not expire within 30 days of assignment start
    • Facility-specific certifications such as EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) accepted from AWHONN or NCC
    • PALS and TNCC may be required depending on unit (PALS required for ER; TNCC not required for ER RNs)

Scheduling & Work Conditions

  • Block Scheduling: Possible with manager approval, dependent on unit needs
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
  • Local Radius: 60 miles
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, at a reduced rate

  • Licensure Verification:
    • Primary source verification required
    • Walk-through (temporary) license process available for SC RN license applicants without prior background issues
  • Drug Testing:
    • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start attesting ability to meet physical demands
    • Immunizations and titers required or declination forms accepted for:
      • Tdap (within 10 years)
      • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
      • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
      • Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or chest x-ray if positive history
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30) or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
    • COVID vaccination not required but highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
  • Work History Verification: Last 3 clinical employers verified unless waived for this facility

  • Completion of orientation modules (approx. 2 hours) prior to start
  • Upload COVID and flu vaccination documentation into facility system
  • Clear, passport-style photo for badge
