Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Billings, Montana
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to work alternating 12-hour shifts (0700-1930 and 1900-0730). Weekend work is required but not necessarily every other weekend; may include two weekends in a row. This position requires independent and competent care for complex, high acuity trauma, neuro, and surgical ICU patients.


Required Experience

  • Minimum 1.5 years of prior ICU RN experience
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Locals not accepted (must live 75+ miles from facility)

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Montana
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, certificates of completion NOT accepted
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, certificates of completion NOT accepted
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification

Required Qualifications & Compliance

  • Current and valid Driver’s License or government photo ID/passport
  • Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG within 30 days of start
  • Education verification of highest level attained
  • NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, or PA (must state good health and ability to perform duties)
  • Quantitative fit test with 3M mask within 90 days prior to start (annual renewal required)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual renewal
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (TDAP preferred within 10 years or signed declination)
  • Negative drug screen within 30 days of start, renewed annually
  • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required during flu season (Oct 31 - Mar 31), with accepted exemptions
  • COVID-19 vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption

Additional Requirements

  • Must provide 2 references including a direct supervisor reference within the last year
  • Employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
  • Employment verification preferred for last 5 years
  • Skills checklist as applicable

Work Environment

  • ICU setting with high acuity trauma, neuro, and surgical patients
  • Alternating 12-hour shifts, including weekends

Notes

  • This is not an entry-level position; requires independent clinical judgment and experience
  • Prior travel experience is not required for this position
